Montgomery GI Bill

Important : It takes approximately 12-14 weeks for you to begin to receive veterans educational benefits. Follow the information below to make your certification process easier.

Certification Process

Certification remains incomplete until all required documents have been received. The Records Office requires:

  1. Completed Veterans Benefits Certification Form (for internal purposes only)
  2. Copy, complete with your signature, of your online VA Educational Application. (See form in #1 above for which VA form to complete)
  3. Copy of your DD-214 Report of Separation/Discharge Papers - (member 4 copy).
    -Or-
    Copy of the NOBE - Notice of Basic Eligibility (Contact your unit for a copy).
  4. Official transcripts from any and all educational institutions you have previously attended.
  5. Official military transcripts from each branch of service in which you have been a member.
  6. Every Semester notify your campus Veterans Certifying Official in writing of any changes (add, drop or withdraw) to your Program/Major or your courses. Failure to do so may result in a delay of additional benefits and/or repayment of any overpayment.

Your completed file is filed with the VA Records Management Center in St. Louis, MO. A copy is retained at ARCC.

Once you receive your Award Letter from the VA, please verify your VA enrollment at the Web Automated Verification of Enrollment (WAVE) or by calling 877.823.2378.

Special Notices

Any change to your enrollment may change your benefits. It is your responsibility to notify the campus Veterans Certifying Official of any changes (add, drop or withdraw) to your Program/Major or your courses. Failure to do so may result in a delay of additional benefits and/or repayment of any overpayment.

The VA does not pay for repeated courses or any courses that are not part of your degree/major.

The primary method of communication with students is through the college email system. All students are assigned a free MetNet email account upon registration. Students bear the responsibility to read and respond to official college notices. Activate your account as soon as you first register for courses.
