Kid U/College for Kids and Teens Frolics Into 14th Year of Fun, Friendship

Summer at Anoka-Ramsey Community College means kids, younger-than-average-college-age kids, engaged in awesome adventures, slippery sciences, spins through the solar system, and going green in what is often their first exposure to a college campus.

KidU/College for Kids and Teens at Anoka-Ramsey Community College offers classes for kids from four to 18 years old in an effort to foster fun and learning. This year classes at the Cambridge Campus are July 14 to 17; classes at the Coon Rapids Campus are July 21 to 24 and again July 28 to 31. See more information, or call 763.433.1279.

Now in its 14th year, the college’s KidU/College for Kids program is again opening its doors to preschool, elementary, middle and high school students for learning success in exciting, week-long courses such as: Birds, Baths and Beyond; New and Improved Model Airplane Building; Green Art - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle; Chemistry in the House; Really Wild Jobs; Pottery; Spanish; Fun & Fitness classes; Qigong; and "Where the Wild Things Are."

These and all KidU classes run Monday to Thursday for one-and-one-half to three hours a day. Costs range from $49 to $105 per class. Some scholarships are available.

"Since inception, the program has been extremely successful and grows every year," says LeAnn Snidarich, Program Director. "The courses and programs ignite the students’ imagination, expand their knowledge and make learning fun. The students experience innovative hands-on learning in subjects not ordinarily taught in traditional school curriculum.”

Each KidU class is taught by an enthusiastic and extremely talented instructor who is considered a specialist in their field. The size of each class is limited. The average student-to-teacher ratio of twelve-to-one with some courses using two instructors.
