Adult Basic Education (ABE) & English for Academic Purposes (EAP) - Coon Rapids Campus

Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes are offered on campus in partnership with Metro North ABE for adults who want to study for the GED, or who want to improve their math, reading, and writing skills to be ready for college level coursework. ABE classes are taught by licensed teachers and trained volunteers who will help learners meet their educational goals.

To register for ABE or EAP class, you must attend an orientation and intake session. They are held every Tuesday evening at 4:30 pm. You do not need to register for intake. Please plan on being at intake for 4 hours; you will take an assessment test (TABE) and meet with our intake specialist for class registration. ABE classes include reading enhancement, writing skills, basic math skills, and GED preparation. ABE classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30 - 8:30 p.m. in SC163 in the Academic Support Center (ASC). English for Academic Purposes (EAP) is a free, non-credit class designed for speakers of other languages and students from other countries, no matter what their native language is. EAP is not a basic ESL class. Rather, it is a class to build skills in college-level, American academic writing and vocabulary. EAP classes are held every Monday and Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. in the ASC. For more information, please contact Joanne Krueger at (763) 433-1940.
