Anoka-Ramsey Community College second year basketball player Marie Hanson, Andover, Minn. and Cambridge High School, was named MCAC Southern Division Player of the Week for her play against Riverland Community and Technical College.
In the only game Anoka-Ramsey played last week, Hanson scored 25 points, grabbed five rebounds and added two assists and two steals. In that game Hanson connected on nine of 12 shots from the field which included an impressive seven for eight from behind the arc. She was six for six from long range in the first half alone and made seven straight before she finally missed from 3-point land.
“Marie is a hard working kid who is constantly striving to improve her game,” says Anoka-Ramsey Head Coach, Dave DeWitt. “She is a very, very good shooter.”
This is the fourth time in six weeks that an Anoka-Ramsey Women’s basketball player has been named MCAC Player of the Week. Tamarra Shorter, Stephanie Pilgrim and Mallory Cramer have each also been named National Player of the Week.
Anoka-Ramsey is currently 22-1 on the year and ranked #1 in the country in NJCAA III basketball. Their next game is Wednesday, Feb. 9, 6 p.m., at Anoka-Ramsey against Minnesota State – Fergus Falls.
Anoka-Ramsey Community College is a Division III JUCO in Coon Rapids, MN and competes in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference. They have won six National Championships, the most recent in 2007 and been to the National tournament 10 times.
