The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men’s Basketball team opened their season with an 86-65 victory over the St. Cloud Technical College Cyclones, Tuesday, Nov. 9.
The Golden Rams led 39-33 at halftime, and a renewed defensive effort in the second half propelled the team to the win. The Golden Rams forced 24 turnovers for the game, including 20 steals. They shot 44.8% from the field for the game and held St. Cloud Tech to 40.3%.
A trio of sophomores led the way for the Golden Rams: Trey Scott, an All-MCAC Southern Division selection last season, tallied 28 points and 6 steals; Jamar Franks scored 18 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals; and Deshawn Thurman chipped in with 9 points and 6 rebounds off the bench.
Anoka-Ramsey (1-0) travels to Mason City, Iowa to take on two NJCAA Division II schools this weekend in the Konigsmark Klassic on the campus of North Iowa Area Community College. The Golden Rams face Ellsworth College, Friday, Nov. 12, 4 p.m., and then play host NIACC, Saturday, Nov. 13, 6 p.m.
