1) How can I access information about the careers I am interested in?
The O*NET Dictionary of Occupational Titles, Dictionary of Occupational Titles, Occupational Briefs, Encyclopedia of Careers, and Occupational Outlook Handbook are good initial resources. You can get a brief description about the vast majority of occupations available in the United States as well as job outlook, salary, and other useful facts.

DISCOVER will give you a national perspective on career exploration whereas (Minnesota Career Information Systems) MCIS will give you specific occupational information from a Minnesota perspective. These resources will provide you with job descriptions, outlook and wage information, education and training requirements, as well as additional resources for further research.

ISEEK (the Internet Source for Education and Employment Knowledge) can help you explore a variety of careers and can also provide wage and employment outlook information for the State of Minnesota.

College catalogs are always a good place to start when gathering information about a specific college. We have the printed versions of Minnesota institutions as well as some out-of-state colleges located in the career center.

Many Minnesota colleges have their catalogs on their web site as well as out of state schools.

Or, go online to DISCOVER, and ISEEK (the Internet Source for Education and Employment Knowledge), or use the MCIS (the Minnesota Career Information System) in the Career Center.
