Free Screening of Nationally-Acclaimed Documentary Miss Representation at College Nov. 27

November 12, 2012

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Counseling Department, in cooperation with the Sexual Assault Action Team of Anoka County, is presenting the nationally-acclaimed documentary screening of:

MISS REPRESENTATION
Tuesday, Nov. 27
6:30 to 9 p.m.
Coon Rapids Campus Performing Arts Center
(11200 Mississippi Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN)

This is a free event to the college and community. Refreshments are available. Following the viewing, the audience will be invited to discuss a variety of issues relating to the documentary's content.

Miss Representation uncovers a glaring reality we live with every day but fail to see. Written and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newson, the film exposes how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. The film challenges the media’s limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average women to feel powerful.
